The Source of Northwest Ohio has a variety of resources and services that may assist businesses in the following areas:

Posting job orders:
Employers can register their business and create their own job posting through the state database (SCOTI). Job seekers can either be instructed to contact their local one-stop for application instructions or apply directly to the company. In addition, employers can use the SCOTI system to search for the resumes of local job seekers who match employer criteria for skill, education, training and experience.

Automated labor exchange:
Staff is available at The Source to help employers find qualified job seekers through the labor exchange system. Employers can download this Job Order Form for use on their computer, then print and fax the completed form, or e-mail the job order. Once it is received by The Source, the information is added to SCOTI where applicants can view and apply for your job(s).

Pre-screening of applicants:
The Source staff can pre-screen applicants to find the most qualified candidates available for the position. Depending on your requirements, the staff can help ensure that your new employees have the skills you need and save you time commonly wasted filtering through unqualified job applicants.

Basic pre-employment testing:
The Source staff can give potential employees/candidates a variety of basic assessment tests to find out if the applicants have the skills to perform the job. More in-depth assessments or testing for large groups can be arranged through our partner agencies.

Advanced assessment and testing services:
The Source staff will work with you to design a basic skill and occupational assessment package as part of a customized recruitment program, and link you with local providers of assessment services. The Source's role in this process is to provide technical assistance to you, but you will be responsible for the cost and administration (direct or through a fee-for service contractor) of any assessments tied to the hiring and selection process.

On-site interview rooms:
The Source has on-site interview rooms where you can interview potential applicants for available positions.

Mass recruitment services:
The Source has facilities to help you hold large-scale recruiting events. From notifying large numbers of qualified individuals to assisting with the application process to scheduling interviews, staff at The Source is ready and willing to help.

Job fairs:
The Source holds one large job fair each year and assists with a number of smaller employment events and industry forums – all of which are a cost-effective ways to meet a diverse and qualified pool of job seekers in one convenient location and recruit candidates for multiple positions.

Information on area training and education providers:
The Source can help you find area providers of targeted training for your employees as well as institutions and agencies with programs that graduate/certify workers in skills you need. In addition, staff at The Source can help you determine whether your positions qualify for one or more available training subsidies.

Entrepreneur training and consulting:
Through some of our partner agencies, The Source offers training and resources if you are thinking of starting your own business. This training may include determining viability of the business, developing a business plan, getting financing, marketing strategies, and identifying common challenges in starting a business.

Employer summits:
Employer summits provide forums where business leaders can discuss workforce issues challenging them, and develop strategies for addressing these concerns.

Information on community resources:
Center staff has information on the wide range of resources available in the community to help you manage your business effectively as well as help your employee’s get certain services so they can maintain their employment.

Unemployment compensation/TAA NAFTA:
Center staff can provide you with information on the unemployment compensation system and on filing for Trade Adjustment Assistance/North American Free Trade Agreement (TAA/NAFTA).

Rapid response assistance with layoffs/closures:
Center staff will meet with you if your business is undergoing downsizing (layoffs and/or facility closures) to explain the resources available to help laid-off employees.
