Creating Hope for a brighter future through Career Development in the Healthcare Profession

The Northwest Ohio Pathway to Healthcare Careers (NOPHC) program is focused on empowering 1,100 low income individuals to obtain education and training needed for the healthcare field over a five year period. This project is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: Administration for Children and Families with Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG) funding. The program budget is $3,000,000 per year providing an array of wrap around services. This project will build upon the community Bridges out of Poverty initiative that is focused at empowering individuals to progress out of poverty.

 

HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs.  During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities.  Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.

 

The program funding will provide Education and Training opportunities leading to a healthcare industry recognized certification/diploma or degrees in the following areas:

  • Dental Assistant
  • Home Health Aide
  • Human & Social Service Assistant
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Phlebotomist
  • Psychiatric Aide
  • State Tested Nurse Aide
  • Community Health Worker
  • Dental Hygienist
  • Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Healthcare Information Technology
  • Health Technologist
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Secretary/Coding
  • Physical Therapy Assistants
  • Registered Nurse
  • Surgical Technologist

 

Program Eligibility

  • Be a Lucas County resident    
  • Be able to pass an FBI background check      
  • Meet income guidelines

  • Education Success Coaching
  • Basic Skill Development
  • Job Retention Service
  • Employment Soft Skills
  • Job Placement Assistance
  • Supportive Services
