Career exploration is like building a bridge from one career to the next. The Source has a variety of resources to help job seekers find a rewarding career, as well as specific jobs within that career path.
- Internet Access: Use computers to research employment
information, access job openings posted on Internet job sites and complete
financial aid information.
- Career/Occupation Information: Research new occupations and the
skill sets they require, as well as the abilities, aptitudes,
education/training requirements, characteristics and physical requirements
that are needed for each.
- Training/Education Provider Information: Find information on
various training and education programs offered by The Source partners and
other organizations, and the different types of occupations where these new
skills can be used.
- Demand Occupation Information: Explore occupations that are
considered hot job prospects in Northwest Ohio, the skill sets they require,
and the average wage and education requirements.
- Labor Market Information (LMI): Research the general labor market
information, including statistics on occupational growth rates, annual
openings, average wages, job prospects, and typical education and training
across the country.
- Career Guidance: Get more information about specific careers
using a resource library. Experienced staff will be available to provide
limited career guidance.
- Televisions/VCRs: Watch career exploration and job search
techniques tapes.
- Copy Machines: Use copy machines within the Resource Room to copy
various documents for career exploration and job search assistance.
- Entrepreneur Information: The Source has a variety of resources
for future entrepreneurs, including business planning literature, steps
needed to start a business, business loan information, and referrals to
local organizations.
